I am super excited to tell you about this wonderful condo in the Eagles Crest Condominiums. It is 780 square feet with 1 bedroom and 1 bath. It has a 26 foot deck for outdoor entertainment and relaxation. OK, those are the basics, but there are two features that make this property a stand out.

Featured Property: 26 Acre Estate

One of the things that Linda and I like to do is introduce you to really interesting houses for sale here in Lake Oswego. One of special significance came onto the market this week, a 26 acre estate.
It’s just so rare to find a large piece of property like this anywhere in the Portland metro area, but especially here in Lake Oswego. Land is just so valuable that most of it has been divided up and turned into neighborhoods. Sure, you can find houses on acreage if you go South down to Stafford, but to find something that is literally walking distance to a coffee shop, that is special.
What it takes for something like this to occur are home owners who want the lifestyle of living on what is basically a small farm. This land has a barn, stables, an orchard, a pond, an arena and a caretaker’s cottage.

Hemmenway was a very well-known Oregon architect. He was a class mate of Richard Sundeleaf and graduated from the U of O school of Architecture in 1922. He had a highly respected career and designed over 300 homes. The largest concentration of Hemmenway houses are in Dunthorpe. He is best known for the Colonial Revival style and took great pride is maintaining the historic details of the design.
Yes, Lake Oswego has lots of multi-million dollar homes, so the price is not what is significant. What is significant is that now is one of the few opportunities that a property of this nature is available.

Remarkable Rummer

There are two elements of being a Realtor that I really love: working with people and looking at houses. Neither ever gets old. It’s super dynamic and interesting.

I get to look at lots and lots of houses. When a house is “architecturally interesting” it perks me up and I literally feel the excitement and energy of the brilliance of design. The houses of Bob Rummer do this to me.

They’ve always been interesting. I truly have loved them from the first time that I laid eyes on one. Today they are experiencing a resurgence of popularity. They share common elements with the modern homes being built today. They feature an open floor plan and well thought out design. Remember these homes were being built in the 1960’s when the common ranch style floor plan was being widely built. The layout is a U shape with the open end of the U facing the street. Typically there is a wall with a front door facing the street. While they do have curb appeal, they are understated. When you go through the entry you find yourself in a central courtyard that is walled with windows, and often sliding doors, that take you into the various elements of the floor plan. One side of the U is the noisy area of the house: the kitchen, the laundry, the garage and utilities. The opposite side of the U is the quiet area: bedrooms and baths. In the middle is a huge open living room with walls of windows that look both out to the back yard and into the courtyard.

I recently read that Bob Rummer is still alive. He’s 91 years old and still owns Rummer Homes Inc. He estimates that he’s built about 1000 houses. Rummers are scattered all over the Portland Metro area, including here in Lake Oswego. Most of the houses are about 1800-2000 square feet. They were built for modern middle-class families and originally sold for about $35,000. Today they fetch far more than that. Several have sold recently. They sell within days. Everyone wants a Rummmer! Recent sales range from $564,000 to close to $800,000. There is currently a Rummer for sale here in Lake Oswego for $699,900.

Featured Property: 19 Juarez St

This is just a stunning house. I am super excited to be representing it’s owners as it is sold. Full disclosure, the house received an accepted offer the day it was put up for sale. I think this speaks to two things. First, contemporary homes are super popular right now. I’ve been in this business long enough to remember a time when traditional homes was what was hot and the contemporaries were slow to sell. That is not the case in 2018. Contemporary homes are hot, hot, hot. Second, it pays to take good care of your property. The owners of this house have really enjoyed it and done improvements over the entire time that they have owned it and it shows.

The house is in Lake Oswego but just across the county line into Multnomah County. It is part of the Mountain Park Home Owner’s Association. This means it has access to the wonderful rec facility with swimming, weightroom, basketball, a big reception room, and 15 miles of walking paths.

Featured Property: 2990 Glen Eagles Rd

If there was an encyclopedia for real estate, under “beautiful house” would be 2990 Glen Eagles Rd. I think there are two reasons that this house is a stand-out property. First is the location. The neighborhood is very quiet with very little traffic. Yet it is in the Northwest area of Lake Oswego that is close to Boones Ferry Rd, Kruse Way, Hwy 217 and I-5. Shopping, restaurants and schools are all nearby. Second, it’s on .38 of an acre that backs to a green space.
