The City of Lake Oswego, along with Republic Services, is offering a bulky waste drop off event on Saturday, October 4th. Items that can be dropped off include mattresses, stoves, furniture, water heaters, the sort of items that can not be left for pick up at the curb.
They will not accept anything with freon, construction debris of any type, solvents, tires, or household garbage.
The event is free and runs from 9am to noon at 4101 Kruse Way (the Yamaha parking lot). You have to remove the item from your vehicle and lift it to get it into the bins that will be provided.
Last week in Lake Oswego we had 12 properties come onto the market. One of those sold quickly and appears in this report as a pending sale. 12 properties moved to pending status and 8 properties became closed sales.

Fall is definitely in the air. It’s funny, but I am actually looking forward to the rains starting up again. My yard is too.
The real estate market in Lake Oswego is still very much happening, but it has slowed since our busy season in the spring and early summer. Last week in Lake Oswego there were 13 new listings. One of those sold super fast and appears in this report as a pending sale. There were 10 properties that went pending and 11 closed sales.

There’s some good news in Lake Oswego about the Farmer’s Market.
Thanks to a grant from the Oregon Farmer’s Market Association, the Saturday market at Millennium Plaza has been extended by 3 additional weeks. The final market will take place on October 25th instead of October 4th. This market is more than a shopping trip, it’s an event. Live music, yummy meals, and hand crafted goods are offered along with all of the harvests of fall. The market runs Saturdays from 8:30 to 1:30.
In addition, there will be an Farmer’s Market in Lake Grove on September 7th, October 5th, and November 2nd, from 11am to 2pm on Hallmark Drive.
As we wind down the summer, the selling market in Lake Oswego remains strong. While there were only 11 new listings, there were 22 properties that went pending and 18 closed sales. One of the new listings sold very quickly and appears in this report as a pending sale. These numbers were for both zip codes 97034 and 97035 in Lake Oswego.

One of the very first houses that I sold when I got my real estate license was on Oswego Lake. It is absolutely a stunning place to live, and owning a home on the lake itself is a goal of many people. I enjoying touring and showing the waterfront homes. I thought it would be interesting to do a snap shot of current prices.
Wealthy home owners enjoy their manshions with boat houses along the beautiful shores of Lake Oswego in Oregon.
There are currently 30 properties for sale on the lake. The least expensive is a condo for $479,900. It does not have lake views, but does have access to the lake. This is one of 4 condos that are currently for sale. I think the most interesting of the 4 is a condo with wonderful lake views and also a private boat slip for $949,000.
The lake has two bays. West Bay at the West end and Lakewood Bay at the East end. Values for the three houses currently for sale in the bays start at $2,850,000 and go to $3,999,000.
Then there are the canals. There are 2 canals. Blue Heron is a wide canal,, and the Main Canal is a moving body of water. This is where the water comes in from the Tualatin River. There are 4 houses currently for sale on canals. Prices start at $1,695,000 and go to $2,750,000.
Then there is the main lake. There are 19 houses currently for sale on the main lake. Prices start at $2,950,000 and go to $9,900,000. That is a wide price range. Several factors play into this. Size and age are the biggest factor. A 5,000 square foot home that was built in 2022 is simply worth substantially more than a 2,000 square foot house that was built in 1925. Sadly, the older and less expensive houses are torn down pretty frequently. I say sadly because I like old house but I know that not everyone does. Another factor that plays into this is sun exposure. The North side of the lake, for the most part, has full sun all day long. On the South side that is not always the case and, in fact, there are few spots where the houses get no sun at all.

Mark you calendars for September 18th, 5:30-7:30pm. The City of Lake Oswego is hosting an emergency preparedness fair. We know that significant events happen. I’ll never forget the ice storm and sub-zero temperatures that hit LO in January of 2024. It was a tough week! This fair will show you how to prepare for earthquakes, floods, winter storms and other disasters. The event is free and will feature approximately 20 information booths, plus programs and activities. It will take place at City Hall, 380 A Avenue. The time to get prepared is now!
Here in Lake Oswego, we are having the most glorious summer. Perfect weather with temperatures consistently in the 80’s. We are bound to have a few hot days (around here, that generally anything over about 95 degrees). But, I’ll tell you what, I’m enjoying our climate!

Yes, yes, I know. Lake Oswego Reads won’t roll around again until next spring. I am bringing this subject up because I am late to the party this year. The annual, city-wide, reading event has consistently selected great books. Like with Reese or Oprah, if it’s on the LO reads list, you know it’s going to be good.
This year’s pick was “How to Read a Book”, by Monica Wood. The book was loaned to me by one of my walking buddies, and I started it a few days ago. It is just so good! It has a bit of everything. Characters young and old, steadfast and shaky, it’s allowing me to look at life through multiple lenses that stand alone but also mesh together.
This motivated me to re-visit the list of books that have annually been chosen for the last 20 or so years. It’s a great resource for book suggestions. For a complete list, click here.
Now I wish I had been more timely. The LO Reads program lasts an entire month and includes shared discussions, art exhibits, and a presentation by the writer of the book. The book is usually announced in February with the month of events occurring in April. I will be more on-top of my timing in 2026.
But it’s never too late to pick up a good book, and I highly recommend the books suggest by LO Reads.
